CH112 Cruising Around Chicago! Here are 18 radio stations recorded over 4 days. All are unscoped with the commercials edited out. Here are some quick facts about Chicago.
It is the most populous city in the State of Illinois with a population of 2,746,388 according to the 2020 Census and is the 5th most populous city in the US. It’s nickname is The Windy City and it is located on the shores of Lake Michigan. It is the third largest media market after New York an Los Angeles.
It was incorporated in 1837. In 1871, the great Chicago Fire destroyed several square miles and left more than 100,000 people homless.
Chicago was also notable for some big name crime bosses, including Al Capone, Johnny Torio, Big Jim Colsimo, and Dion O’Bannion. It was on February 14, 1929 that the infamous St. Valentines Massacre happened. Four unidentified men dressed as police officers went into a Near North Garage on North Clark Street and murdered members of gangster George Morans North Street Gang.
O’Hare International Airport is routinely ranked among the worlds Top 6 Busiest Airports.
It is home to various Fortune 500 companies including Abbott Laboratories, AbbVie, Allstate, Boeing, Caterpillar, Conagra Brands, Kraft/Heinz, McDonalds, Mondelez Internataional, United Airlines, US Foods and Walgreens.
In 2018, Chicago had over 58 million tourists that set a new record. City landmarks include Millenium Park, Navy Pier, Magnificent Mile, Art Institute, Museum Campus, Willis Tower, Grant Park, Museum of Science and Industry, and The Lincoln Park Zoo.
Chicago lays claim to a number of regional specialty foods including deep dish pizza and all beef hot dogs with a huge array of topping. They include pickle relish, yellow mustard, pickled sport peppers, tomato wedges, dill pickle spears, and celery salt all served on a poppy seed bun.
Chicago is represented by all the major sports teams. MLB has the White Sox and Cubs, the NHL has the Blackhawks, NBA has the Bulls, NFL has the Bears, MLS has the Chicago Fire FC, and WNBA has the Chicago Sky.

OH062 MP3 Traveling Around Toledo. All are US with over the air commercials intact. Recorded by Scott Fybush on July 12, 2022. You can visit it’s Wikipedia page HERE.

Toledo is the county seat of Lucas Country. It is the 4th most populous city in Ohio, and the 74th most populous in the country according to the 2020 census. It is the 5th busiest port on the Great Lakes, and 54th in the country. It was founded in 1833 on the west bank of the Maumee River.

It’s nickname is “The Glass City” comes from all the glass manufacturers that arrived in the 1880’s, including Owens-Illinois, Owens-Corning, Libbey Incorporated, Pilkington North America and Therma Tru. Other off shoots and spin offs of these companies also continue to play important roles in Toledo’s economy.

Toledo is the home to a range of classical performing institutions including The Toledo Opera, The Toledo Symphony Orchestra, The Toledo Jazz Orchestra and The Toledo Ballet. It is also home several theatres including the Stranahan Theatre, the historic Valentine Theatre, the Toledo Repetoire Theatre, the Collingswood Arts Center and The Ohio Theatre.

The Toledo Zoo was founded in 1900 with a gift of a woodchuck. Today it has over 10,000 animals with over 720 species. In 2014, it was ranked at the Number One zoo by USA Today.

Sports include the Minor League Baseball Team Mud Hens, which started in 1896, and are the Triple A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. Hockey has the Walleye of the ECHL, an affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings.
